Paithal Mountain, known as the Aruda of Vellad Sri Mahadev, holds the ruins of an ancient temple, including a floor, pond, and footpath. Foreign smugglers once looted the temple, causing the priest to flee with a sacrificial idol, which local kings later seized and discarded, giving rise to the name "Velladu." Tribals discovered the idol and brought it to Kavum field, where Lord Shiva, enraged by the invaders, appeared with his demons. To appease him, Chuzhali Bhagavathy emerged and stood in the field, which became known as "Bhudanam." The goddess moved to the temple site, holding Lord Shiva on her left, explaining her current position. Near the temple's eastern side, a place called "Kaliyarmada" is where the forest goddess Chuzhali Bhagavathy is worshipped, bestowing blessings on devotees.
