Sri Vilakoli Perumal Temple

Tiruththanka, also known as Tooppul or Deepa Prakasa Perumal Temple, is a temple in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu. Built in the Dravidian architectural style, it is praised in the Divya Prabandha, a collection of early Tamil hymns by the Azhwar saints from the 6th to 9th centuries AD. This temple is one of the 108 Divya Desams dedicated to Vishnu. Here, Vishnu is worshipped as Deepa Prakasar and his consort Lakshmi is called Maragathavailli.

  2. Avoid wearing shirts without angavastram, shorts, or casual wear like jeans and t-shirts.
  3. It's customary to remove headgear like caps or hats before entering the temple premises.

Women:

  1. Wear traditional attire like saree, salwar kameez.
  2. Avoid wearing revealing or tight-fitting clothes, short skirts, or sleeveless tops.
  3. It's advisable to cover your head with a shawl or dupatta while inside the temple.

  1. By Road: Kanchipuram is well-connected by roadways. You can reach Kanchipuram by bus from major cities like Chennai, Bengaluru, and Tirupati. Once in Kanchipuram, you can hire a taxi or an auto-rickshaw to reach the temple.
  2. By Train: Kanchipuram has a railway station called Kanchipuram Railway Station (Station Code: CJ) which is connected to major cities like Chennai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. From the railway station, you can take a taxi or an auto-rickshaw to reach the temple, which is located around 5-6 kilometres away.
  3. By Air: The nearest airport to Kanchipuram is Chennai International Airport (MAA), which is approximately 70 kilometres away. From the airport, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to reach Kanchipuram. Once in Kanchipuram, you can proceed to the temple using local transportation.
